Modalities for the implementation and signature

In order to obtain the label of the SuperDrecksKëscht® fir Betriber a general agreement has to be signed between the client who can be the owner , the building site manager or the operator of the sorting center of the building site and the SuperDrecksKëscht®. If after the signature of a general agreement, the client complies with the concept SuperDrecksKëscht® fir Betriber,he may, after three (3) months of the signature of the agreement, carry the label SuperDrecksKëscht® fir Betriber  and use it for marketing purposes.

What does the quality label mean?

The label means an adequate waste management at the building site.

Criteria for receiving the label

They are identical to those applicable for the quality label of the SuperDrecksKëscht® fir Betriber for all companies, i.e.:

1. Motivation of all participants

The present concept regarding building sites will only serve its purpose if it is well known. Someone who is not complying with waste sorting, will contaminate the entire content and destroy all the works of the others. In principle all the people sorting waste have to receive information allowing them putting waste into the right container. The building site management has to guarantee the exchange of such information, organize and hold training sessions if necessary. This is the only way to make sure that all actors can contribute to the waste management on the building site.

2. Waste prevention measures

Waste prevention at the level of planning

Efficient prevention can only be based on planning, i.e. it has to be defined at the planning level of the building project. The guidelines for construction and renovation compiled by the CRTI-B/CRTE can provide useful information right from that planning stage on. You will find the guidelines for sustainable construction and renovation on the Internet site of the CRTI-B/CRTE. (Link: www.crtib.lu/Leitfaden )

Waste prevention during the construction phase

During the construction works, it is not possible to completely avoid waste production but it is possible with some organizational measures to significantly reduce the quantities of waste. To assist you, the SuperDrecksKëscht® has compiled guidelines regarding measures for waste prevention for organizing and working on building sites.

3. Visible and accessible collection containers

4. Safe and ecologic storage

5. Selective collection of waste

The law of 17 June 1994 regarding the prevention and management of waste provides that waste has to be subject to a selective collection. In order to do so, the companies working on the building site should receive assistance from the beginning by compiling a waste management planning in accordance with the concept for building sites of the SuperDrecksKëscht® fir Betriber . Collection containers shall be of such size as is appropriate with regard to the type and quantities of waste to be stored therein. By planing type and quantities of waste, it is possible to optimize the sorting, the size of the containers and the frequency of their replacement. By quantifying the type and quantity of waste it is also possible to compare the prices for their disposal and the renting of containers in order to chose the most efficient formula. To calculate types and quantities of waste of a building site, the SuperDrecksKëscht® has developed the calculation application OYAT.

6. Transparency and high quality of recycling and disposal of waste

In order to guarantee the traceability of waste generated on the building sites, two scenarios are possible :

a. The intervening parties manage their own waste:

They will have to provide to the owner or the building site manager the proofs of the disposal of their waste. In order to avoid and reduce waste, the responsibility of the companies should be extended to waste disposal. The best way is to integrate the expected waste in the file of the call for tenders. The company then has to provide a price for the disposal of the various types of waste included therein and communicate to the building site manager the name of the companies collecting the various types of waste. These collecting companies have to be approved by the administration of the environment.

b. The building site has a central collection site

This however presupposes that there is enough space on the building site to set up a central collection site or several separate collection sites. These collection sites have to be supervised at least during the hours the building site is accessible. It is also necessary to oblige the companies to deposit their waste in these collection sites. There may be no derogation to this.

7. Ecologic management

Allocation of the label

If after the signature of a general agreement, the client complies with the concept of the SuperDrecksKëscht® fir Betriber, he may, after three (3) months of the signature of this agreement carry the label SuperDrecksKëscht® fir Betriber and use it for marketing purposes. The lable will be awarded to the company by the "Administration de l’environnement" and the "Chambre des Métiers".

Extension of the label
  • Criteria are checked every 4 months
  • after 8 months – verification only after 8 months
  • withdrawal of the label if provisions are not complied with
At the end of the building site

If the general agreement was signed between the SuperDrecksKëscht®and the owner or the building site manager, the building can be awarded a diploma from the SuperDrecksKëscht® at the time it is put in operation certifying the good waste management during the construction works. If the general agreement was signed between the SuperDrecksKëscht®and the operator of the sorting center of the building site, the latter may use the fact to have managed a certified sorting center for marketing purposes.
