Recycling and disposal - Quality and transparence

It is on purpose that the legislator has included the principle of waste producer in the law of 1994 on waste prevention. Citizens and companies who are aware of environmental issues, know that the saying “out of sight, out of mind” has lost its meaning when it comes to work for a long-term development and a safe future for all of us in the 21st century.

Quality and transparence are therefore the guidelines of modern waste management. Quality means that all valuable substances are treated to allow recovering a maximum of secondary raw material and that all dangerous substances are treated to generate a minimum of harm to the environment.

Transparence means that all substance flows, from the generation to the recycling to produce new raw material or the environment correct disposal are known and documented and thus can be followed at any time (substance flow management).

Quality and transparence are not only main concerns of the SuperDrecksKëscht® and its partners in Luxembourg – i.e. companies with a quality label, waste collectors and recycling sites. These criteria also apply to waste recipients that are processing the recycling or disposal of the products collected by the SuperDrecksKëscht®.

All waste recipients therefore receive regular visits during which, among others, the production site as well as the input and output of substances and products are carefully checked. Environment certificates as for instance ISO 14001, EMAS, specialized recycling company or environment labels play an important role in the selection of a waste recipient. Economy and ecology have to be of equal importance in the interest of a long-term development.
